Thoosa Help

The Library

The Library gathers your marks, routes and tracks. This page explains how to import them, find them again, export them for a plotter and share them.

The Library

Expected screenshot: the Library as a grid on Mac — mini-map thumbnails grouped by folder, with the Filter and Search controls in the toolbar, on the right.

Importing objects

On Mac:

  1. Choose File ▸ Import… (⇧⌘I) and pick one or more GPX, KML or KMZ files — or simply drop them onto the window.
  2. Thoosa recognises the originating plotter's dialect (Garmin, Raymarine, iSailor…) and restores names, colours, folders and symbols.
  3. The objects appear in the Library, grouped by folder if the file had any.

On iPhone and iPad, go through the share sheet: in Files or Mail, open the file's Share menu and choose Thoosa, then confirm the import. On iPad you can also drag the file from Files onto the Thoosa window.

Finding an object

On iPhone and iPad these two controls sit just above the list.

To mark a favourite: right-click the object (swipe on iPhone) ▸ Add to favourites.

From Spotlight, without opening the app

Your marks, routes and tracks are indexed in Spotlight:

  1. Press ⌘Space on Mac, or pull down on the Home Screen on iPhone or iPad.
  2. Type the object's name.
  3. Choose the Thoosa result: the app opens straight onto its detail.

Changing the presentation

Thumbnail grid or list, grouping by folder, thumbnail size and style: all of it is set in Settings ▸ Library.

Viewing an object

Double-click an object (tap it on iPhone) to open its detail: its position on the chart, its attached photos and documents, and its properties.

Exporting for a plotter or a file

On Mac:

  1. Select the objects to export — click, then ⌘-click or ⇧-click to extend. With no selection, the export covers everything currently shown, filters included.
  2. Choose File ▸ Export… (⇧⌘E), or right-click ▸ Export….
  3. In the save dialog, open the Format popup:
  1. Save. The chosen format is offered first next time — you can also change it at any time in Settings ▸ Library.

The export panel

Expected screenshot: the macOS save panel with the "Format:" popup open on the GPX, KML and KMZ flavours.

Sharing

To send objects by AirDrop, Mail or Messages:

Deleting

Right-click ▸ Delete — always last in the menu — or swipe the row left on iPhone. For a batch: Select, tick, then Delete in the bottom bar.

A route still used by a logbook voyage is protected: end or delete that voyage first.
